Glass Sculpture

Although her background is in illustration and ceramic sculpture, Gillian has made a bold step expanding into the world of glass

In 2023, Gillian was granted the opportunity to blow glass for the first time and began working at the renowned Duncan McClellan Gallery. There, she was welcomed to the hotshop and immersed herself in the world of glassblowing. Her first experience—hot sculpting a horse off the pipe, affectionately known as “Pulling Ponies”—sparked a new direction in her artistic practice.

A meaningful turning point came when her mentor, Duncan McClellan, gifted her a blank vessel. That piece became her first Tiger Vase, a work that brought together her love of illustration and sculpture in a dynamic, three-dimensional form.

While still early in her journey of learning to blow her own vessels, Gillian is deeply grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with accomplished artists and continues to explore the possibilities of glass as a storytelling medium.
