Henna Tattoos
Gillian Probert’s journey into henna art began at fifteen, when she got her first henna tattoo at a carnival—only for a curious onlooker to grab her hand and smudge it before it dried. Instead of being upset, Gillian took it as a sign to learn the craft herself. After picking up a beginner’s kit from Michaels, she practiced endlessly and, within a year, was working as a professional henna artist at Belmont Park in San Diego. Throughout high school, she developed her own recognizable style, creating bold, tattoo-like designs that set her work apart. Her dedication eventually led her to a tattoo apprenticeship at Good Life Tattoo Shop in downtown San Diego.
